ERDF and Projects

As part of its OP ERDF, SNN has designed a wide array of subsidy instruments. These are aimed at entrepreneurs. With these funding possibilities we want to encourage a growing number of parties to think, innovate and collaborate strategically. After all, cooperation opens the door to new possibilities. We believe that collaboration, for example between SMEs and knowledge institutions, leads to surprising ideas that can develop into innovations - and even new economic strengths in the Northern Netherlands. 

But innovating means taking risks. Our instruments aim to reduce these risks, so that innovation becomes a standard element of business. Our selection of subsidy instruments can aid companies at every stage. For example, we implement smaller funding schemes that allow SMEs to innovate – but we also created instruments for large multiple-partner projects with a greater strategic value and impact. In the end, European funding helps design an innovation ecosystem in the region. An ecosystem where different types of stakeholders work together to find solutions to societal challenges in the Northern Netherlands – and Europe at large. 

In order to further stimulate the creative climate and organize more cohesion in the Northern Netherlands, SNN has designed and launched an inventive ERDF instrument: the Open Innovation call. This is a call to businesses and knowledge centers to cooperate in order to develop initiatives that are both capable of generating a series of related innovations. Besides contributing to the structural improvement of the innovation ecosystem, these initiatives will also help develop a creative climate that sparks more ideas. These ideas can eventually become innovations with clear market potential that have a significant economic and societal impact in the Northern Netherlands.
